Bola Afolabi has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. A veteran of the oil and gas industry, he has more than thirty years of experience. Nigerian oil and gas professionals recognize Afolabi as a top procurement and contracting strategist.
In the past, Bola Afolabi was the CEO of the NNPC's science and technology research center. He was also the NNPC's Group General Manager, Research and Development (R&D). He has since held a variety of high-level IT and transformation positions in Nigeria, as well as served as Nigeria's Group General Manager for all LNG investment venues (NLNG, Brass, OKLNG, etc.). In addition to his reforming abilities, Dr. Afolabi is an excellent motivator. NNPC hired him as a Senior Advisor for Supply Chain after he worked at Shell Petroleum Development Company.
During his studies at the State University of New York's Maritime College, Bola Afolabi earned a Master's degree in Marine Transportation. His doctorate in Regional Development & Environmental Science was awarded by the University of Port Harcourt. He has achieved several multimillion-dollar savings through the implementation of his change initiatives. CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) elected him as a pioneer African representative. In 2008, he was appointed Vice President and Global President. He became the first non-European to hold this position in the world's largest supply chain association.
Harvard, Wharton, Columbia, and Cranfield are among the prestigious institutions where Bola Afolabi Afolabi studied during his career. He was instrumental in the introduction of the Public Procurement Act during his time in Congress. At the University of Fort Hare, Bola also supervised postgraduate students and facilitated research.
His consulting experience includes oil and gas, strategic supply chain management, commercial leadership, arbitration, and business development at Malaysian University of Science & Technology's Lagos and Abuja campuses. In addition to offering investment advisory services, he also provides cutting-edge consultancy services related to forex and capital markets.
As far as professional and social development is concerned, Bola Afolabi has always demonstrated tremendous potential. In 2010, Nigeria celebrated its 50th anniversary of independence, and he hosted many dignitaries, both domestic and foreign. The services of Afolabi are regularly utilized by several management development programs.
The Life-Time Achiever Award in Supply Chain Excellence is among the prestigious awards Bola Afolabi has won along with articles and published academic works.
